Percy Bysshe Shelley: “Poetry lifts the veil from the hidden beauty of the world, and makes familiar objects be as if they were not familiar.”

Sir Philip Sidney: “Poetry is a speaking picture…”

Mediocrity, A poem by Kristin Ferrell

Small, still, simple life

grow big, tall, important

mundane, quiet, peaceful life

grow bright, loud, bustling

boring, dull, tedious life

grow exciting, lively, interesting

loud, busy, demanding life

pressing,

unavailable,

buried life.
